The following organizations provided support for the development of this website and/or fisher research in B.C.:
A Fisher Habitat Working Group was formed in 2009 with the goal of communicating information to the people that can affect the quantity and quality of fisher habitat on the landscape across British Columbia. The working group used information from four research studies to describe important habitats and identify the amounts of these habitats required by fishers.
For ease of use by forestry professionals, fisher habitat descriptions and targets use standard forestry measurements and Vegetation Resource Inventory (VRI) data. For additional details on the associated research go here. To learn how the targets were calculated, download Habitat Target Calculation (PDF X.XMB, Coming soon).
The Fisher Habitat Working Group is here to help you. We are happy to provide on-going support for your specific operational questions, and provide training workshops tailored to your needs. Please contact us here.
